Welcome to the my Magicka Warden (Magden) PvP Build for the Flames of Ambition patch.
This build utilizes the revamped Champion Points system and the new Armor Bonuses in addition to the existing proc meta to get a deal a massive amounts of damage that pressures it’s opponents while remaining very tanky and hard to take down.
With this build you’ll be able to apply a lot of pressure to enemy players and groups alike while being very hard to take down due to your strong healing and tanky setup, in addition to having a very fast ultimate generation that helps you keep tearing through enemy groups with your powerful Northern Storms.
Setup
There are a few things to keep in mind when viewing and playing this build:
- A lot of the damage power of this build comes from the proc sets that it utilizes in combination with the Malacath mythic item which increases the damage of your procs as well as your skills. So make sure you are constantly activating those sets if you want the build to peak in terms of damage dealing.
- The healing power of this build scales off of it’s max Health rather than it’s max Magicka unlike most magicka based builds. This is important to keep in mind since while this build utilizes less common methods of health gain such as attribute points and mundus buff, those are very important for the overall performance of the build.
Race
The optimal race for this build is Breton. This race helps you sustain magicka skills better than any, and increases your spell resistance and your magicka pool as well.
Other good alternatives for races would be Dark Elf, Nord, Argonian and High Elf.
Mundus
The mundus stone we are using on this build is The Lord, since most of our healing power in this build scales off of our Max Health, and this mundus helps us increase it’s value.

Mythic Item
Malacath – We are utilizing Malacath in this build as it enables us to use heavy armor and set up our build quite defensively for the sake of tankiness while still dealing a whole lot of damage using proc sets (mentioned below). This is one of the most powerful sets in the meta and is very much recommended to use.
Main Set
Ice Furnace – This set allows us to constantly proc a considerably high amount of damage -which is buffed by malacath- every single second, as long as we deal frost damage to any enemy around us. We deal that damage using either Arctic Blast, Perfmafrost, or our spammable Force Pulse. It allows us to keep a lot of pressure on our enemies passively without much effort.
Weapon Sets
Vateshran’s Ice Staff – We are using this set on the back bar to help increase our offensive pressure. Vateshran is one of the strongest proc sets currently available in the game, and thanks to Malacath it deals 25% additional damage on top of it’s already strong value. By casting Elemental Drain on an enemy player while using this set, we apply a massive amount of damage over time to them, and to all enemy players between us and them.
Blackrose Lightning Staff – Similarly to Vateshran, Blackrose is yet another very strong proc set that is buffed by Malacath and lets us deal a whole lot of damage over time that pressures our opponents, by using Elemental Ring on them. While it’s value is slightly lower than Vatesh’s, it can proc on multiple enemies at once, and help us take down entire groups rather than individual players.
Stacking both procs weapon sets (and Ice Furnace’s procs on top) on an enemy player or multiple of them can apply a massive amount of pressure to them that will help us take them down fairly easily.
Monster Helm
Baron Zaudrus – This brand new Monster Helm is the fastest way in the game to generate ultimate quickly. By using this set with a charged staff, every time we cast Force Pulse, we have a huge chance to apply multiple status effects to our target. This means that rapidly casting our spammable two times tends to activate Baron’s effect right away, and generate a lot of ultimate for us. This ultimate generation is incredibly effective, as it helps us cast Northern Storms very frequently, and also gains us additional benefits from our CP stars, which will be mentioned below.
Minor Set
Armor of the Trainee – We use two pieces of this set to both help increase our Max Magicka pool as well as our Max Health pool, which will help our healing power off the Arctic Blast skill scale better.
Weights & Traits
Heavy Armor – We are using mainly heavy armor on this build since it makes us much tankier and increases our max health, making our Arctic Blast to heal us for more, and our damage is still very high thanks to Malacath, as we don’t mind the loss of critical chance at all when our main damge source is proc sets.
Sturdy & Impen – A lot of our traits are sturdy in this build, since our ice staff makes our block very effective on the back bar and reduces blocking cost. We also use a few pieces of Impenetrable despite it being a lot lower value now, since our critical mitigating has significantly dropped with the remake of the CP system.
Consumables
Food
We use Bewitched Sugar Skulls since this one food gives us all: Max Health, Max Magicka, Max Stamina and Health Recovery.
Potions
We use tri-stat potions (made with Bugloss, Columbine and Mountain Flower) to help us heal and sustain both our Magicka pool and our Stamina pool.
